Hey friends!
You know by now that I don’t love clutter, but I DO love having fun toys that facilitate play! Here’s a list of gifts my 6 year old boy either has and loves, or are on our list for him this year!
Shop directly from my Amazon Storefront, here!

1. Who Would Win? books. My son loves facts and these animal battles are full of interesting animal facts. I confirmed with the local librarian that these books are a hit for this age boys and she has a hard time keeping them on the shelves. ($8)

2. Favorite team junior-sized football. I don’t really know any 6 year old boys that don’t love throwing balls around. The favorite team logo makes it even better! ($12)

3. THIS remote-controlled car. According to the boy who has a lot of remote-controlled cars (and his cousins)… “This one is AWESOME.” The wheels do all kinds of cool things, it plays music, and it can blast some steam. Checks all the boxes for a great price! ($41)

4. Beat the 8 Ball Game. My son got the hang of this game really quickly and thought it was so fun. I was also impressed that it teaches the concept of negative numbers in a fun way. ($24)

5. Trouble board game. My son got this for Christmas and made us play it about 100 times in a row. It’s easy and fun for the whole family! ($10)

6. These “Branded” Simple Modern Stainless Steel Water Bottles. Most kids bring a water bottle everywhere they go these days, and these branded water bottles are our favorite. I think the 22oz is the perfect size for a 6 year old (not too big, not too small), they don’t spill when straw is flipped down, and I love that it’s stainless steel and not plastic. We have a few of these, and they are a win-win!

7. Uno Attack. We’ve played this game 1,000 times this year! It’s fun for the whole family but my 6 year old especially loves it. ($24)

8. Over-the-Door Basketball Hoop. We have one in my son’s bedroom on his closet door and we all play it every night before bed! I think it’s his way of stalling bedtime but we love learning the skill of shooting balls and laughing together! ($35)

9. 100-piece puzzles. My son got a 100 piece puzzle and it’s perfect for him. He can do it 100% by himself and has gotten faster each time he’s done it. He loves it and I’m on the lookout for more like this! ($13)

10. Joke Books. This one is on our list for our son! He loves jokes at this age! ($7)

11. Lego race cars. We joke that my son LOVES Legos, but especially likes Legos “with wheels”. He loves race cars and all Legos like this! I love Legos for him for several reasons – dexterity, patience, following directions, spatial building, Legos are a win-win for our family! ($10)

12. This set of card games. Card games like these are perfect for 6 year olds. They can understand a bit more complex strategy but have the attention span for these shorter games. Our family LOVES card games, especially my 6 year old! ($12)

6 year olds are the perfect age for Hotwheels because they are still little-kid-enough to love “playing,” but they are old enough to start to put the tracks together, figure out how it works, compare certain cars to each other, etc. We love Hotwheels at our house! My son has this exact one and it’s always a hit with him and his friends! ($32)

Although my 6 year old doesn’t care quite as much about backhoes and dump trucks, he still LOVES cars, especially “race cars.” He thinks Lamborghinis are awesome because they are FAST. We have this remote control car, it’s one of his favorites, and it actually is FAST! ($25)

My son had never heard of these before, so before I threw it in his Easter basket, I thought it was a bit of a gamble. HE LOVED IT. 6 year olds have the attention span for something like this, but also the concept is simple (my 4 year old could do it too, but didn’t quite have the attention span). ($20)

Okay while we’re on the Pokemon theme, this trainer ball has literally been hours of entertainment for him—days, even. You use the “field guide” book it comes with and try to get the ball to guess which Pokemon you’re thinking of by saying yes or no to the ball’s questions. It’s super fun! ($27)

Why do 6 year olds love moon balls? They are bouncy and a little unpredictable! My son got to pick a toy at a toy store while we were on vacation, and this is what he chose! It brought the whole group lots of fun for the whole trip! ($10)

My 6 year old has quite a few nerf-style blasters and they are literally ALL fun for him! ($20)

This worked better than I expected! It was fun for both of my kids and they both have asked to do it again. You can choose the colors/design and create a couple different size balls. ($16)

20. NFL Guess Who
Got a sports-lover in your life? This is a fun take on the classic game! ($25)

21. Hot Wheels Cars
My son could literally never have enough Hot Wheels! He loves to see all the different kinds. He has a million and they are ALL special to him! :) ($28 for 20 cars)

This is on my list for my son! How fun is this! I know he will love it.

22. Batting T 2-in-1
Literally ALL versions of T-ball are fun for this age! I love this one that grows into a little older version, too! And it’s a safer bat for practicing in the backyard!

23. Voice Changer
Little boys love things like this! Let’s get LOUDER! :)

24. You are 6 and Amazing book
How sweet is this! We don’t have this yet but I think it would be special for reading with your big 6 year old!

25. “Quiet” Basketball
Surprisingly, this is exactly as described! Soft, quiet, but bounces like a regular basketball. Genius for indoor fun!

26. Glow In The Dark Remote Control Wall-Climbing Gecko

27. Golf Chipping Game

28. Dude Perfect Table Top Roll Game

29. Dude Perfect Board Game

30. Squeezy Mates Collectables

31. Football Kicking Tee

32. Football Kicking Tee Stand

33. Giant Soccer Ball

Get Your Kid Their Own Landline – Meet Tin Can!
This is all the rage with my kids and their friends! Tin Can is basically a landline phone! But it is kid-friendly, comes in fun colors, and has extra features! You can call other “tin cans” at no additional cost – unlimited! OR you can pay ~$100/year to have a traditional phone number (through Tin Can) so they can call grandma/grandpa etc. Tin Cans come with an easy to manage app, you can set easy speed dials, approve contacts, etc. I love that NO CALLS are allowed unless you have approved that number! No spam, no strangers, it’s all just easy and safe and fun! My kids love getting a call from their friends!

What my Son Wants for Christmas 2026 – the SkootCase!
Have you seen these Skoot suitcases with a built-in scooter!? How precious, right! No more tired kids walking in airports, no more carrying their luggage for them, they’ll be happily zipping around! And the best part is, the scooter detaches so then you have a scooter with you on your trip for family walks, etc! These are at the top of my kids’ wish lists this year!

Gift Ideas for 6 year old boys besides toys:

Nordstrom Rack has the cutest matching sets for little boys! Usually I can find a top and bottoms for around $30 from brands like Adidas, Nike, Under Armor. They change their inventory frequently so the links will change, but look around!

Old Navy has great prices on favorite team gear too!

6 Year Olds Are Such a Fun Age for Toys!
6 year olds still are young enough to love playing, but they are also old enough for more complex topics and have longer attention spans. This year with my son being six has brought me so much JOY playing with him! I hope these toys and gift ideas bring your 6 year old along with your whole family, so much fun!
Favorite Clothes for 6 Year Old Boys
Finding fun, trendy clothes for an 6 year old boy can be surprisingly difficult, especially when they’re starting to develop their own style. Baseball Lifestyle 101 on Amazon (or their own website, here!) is one of our favorite places to shop for cool boys’ clothes, including graphic T-shirts, athletic shorts, hoodies and baseball-inspired outfits (you don’t have to be a baseball player to wear BL101!).

Bucket Squad on Amazon (or their own website, here!) is another fun option for boys who love basketball and sports.

I also like checking a few different stores throughout the year for comfortable, on-trend pieces that an active 6 year old boy will actually want to wear.

For affordable everyday basics for 6 year old boys, I frequently shop at Target and Old Navy. Both are great places to find solid T-shirts, comfortable shorts, jeans, joggers, pajamas and layering pieces for school, sports and weekends.

Trendy Boys’ Dress Clothes and Everyday Basics
For dressier occasions, Abercrombie Kids has some of my favorite trendy boys’ clothes. Their button-down shirts, polos, sweaters, pants and jackets feel polished while still looking current and age-appropriate. We love their jeans, too! And that little nostalgic moose on the clothing is just icing on the cake for millennial moms!

I also love J Crew Factory for 6 year old boys. Their polos and performance quarter-zip shirts are the main things my son loves to wear to church and chapel days at school!

Best Shoes for 6 Year Old Boys
When shopping for the best shoes for an 6 year old boy, I look for comfortable styles that can keep up with school, sports and everyday play. KANE footwear is one of our favorites. They also have father / son matching, so get your husband some, too!

Nike is always a great place to look for cool boys’ sneakers and athletic shoes. I also frequently check Nordstrom Rack for discounted name-brand kids’ shoes. I’ve found great Nike styles there and even spotted On shoes for boys online recently! Inventory and sizes can change quickly, but it is definitely worth checking when your child needs a new pair.
